Adrian Dominicans Host Vision Integration Week

Pat Walter, OP, led a stretching conversation.

More than 200 members of the Adrian Dominican Sisters gathered in Adrian June 24 to July 1 for the Pathways to Living the Vision Study Week at Weber Retreat and Conference Center. The week was an opportunity to explore the integrating and convergent dimensions of the Vision adopted at General Chapter 2004.

As Dominican preachers we read the signs of our times and realize that "we stand at a critical moment in Earth's history, a time when humanity must choose its future" (Preamble to the Earth Charter). This study week provided rhythms of communal contemplation, common study, presentations, personal reflection, artistic expression, integrating conversations, liturgical prayer, and time to renew and deepen friendships, so we can choose our future with care.

One of the presentations focused on human trafficking.

This is a time to stir our Gospel responses to the injustices of our day, and further the transformation of consciousness and life choices that are necessary in order to create right relationships with the entire Earth community. In the words of our brother, Timothy Radcliffe, OP, former Master of the Dominican Order, "The challenge of this moment is not to produce yet more documents, but to wonder how me might incarnate that vision, make it flesh and blood, so that we could speak with authority."

Jamie Phelps, OP, also made a presentation.
